Amber Guardian

Job overview:

About This Work

Amber Guardian (Guardião Tupã in the original title) was a playable demo created in partnership with the Government of São Paulo to foster growth in the Brazilian game development industry. I led the project as both its sole programmer and director over a roughly six-month production cycle.

Overview

The project was built entirely from scratch, combining Brazilian folklore with original fantasy elements designed for global appeal. The interdisciplinary team, composed primarily of temporary collaborators, scaled to up to eight roles. Development was carried out alongside regular studio responsibilities, requiring disciplined time management and efficient production planning. The game was showcased internationally at events such as Gamescom, as well as at major industry events in Brazil.

Key takeaways
  • Building a team and a project from the ground up and presenting it internationally as an independent studio.

  • Directing all aspects of development, from concept and technical implementation to production and presentation.

  • Managing tight timelines and limited daily availability while delivering a polished vertical slice within a fixed deadline.
